Wine Descriptions by Doug Scheiding, Guy Who Buys Wine at the Vintage Wine & Coffee Bar
Background: Sauvignon Blanc is grown primarily in Loire Valley France, New Zealand, and California where it is sometimes known as Fume Blanc. The French Pouilly-Fume wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Often people associate Fume with smoke but the origin of the word comes from the white morning mist that blankets the Loire Valley – as the sun burns off the mist it looks as if the smoke is rising. Description: Will have a pleasing grassy bouquet with ripe melon flavors. The acidity of the Sauvignon Blanc goes well with most shellfish/seafood.
